Your System Box

When you acquire a new computer system you should create a system box for it. This box should always be handy when your system is being worked on. It will allow you to rebuild your systems if disaster strikes.

Find a box that is large enough to hold all of your systems original documentation and software. You might find one that came with your system.

This box should contain everything that came with your system that is left over after your system is setup such as:

Software

Documentation (copies if the originals must be filed elsewhere)

If you have more than one system each system should have it's own box.

If you install (not just connect) new hardware, i.e. an internal modem, tape drive. All it's documentation and software should be stored in the system box.

Note: If you install any additional software or attach an external device (such as a printer) store the related items in a separate box, not the system box.
